I just got a call from my old company, the one that laid me off back in February. Head of marketing. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be offered a job in sales, and *GULP* I'm seriously thinking about it. :-/ I've never done sales before, but I worked at this company/alongside this department for 4 years, and I already know a lot about what their job is like. I'm going to be having a lunch meeting with him this Wednesday re: the details.
That's the somewhat happy part. The sad part is one of the people I'm replacing is a good man who died unexpectedly of a heart attack while I was away. He was a cool guy, too. Someone everybody knew and liked. Worked like a dog, but always with a smile on his face. Cheered you up whenever you talked to him. Wasn't married, though. And, he offered to be a reference for my current job search.
As a result of hearing all of this, I am somewhat hopeful, but also upset. What a guy to be replacing! I can't help but repeat that cliche in my head: "It's always the good ones."
FUCK, FUCK FUCK, FUCK FUUUUUUUUCK!!!!
