What is mentioned as official reasons, are not always the real reasons, or all of the story. But I've gathered as much.

Getting it into the main programme at Cannes was a bonus.
Either way, however much a part it was of any calculations or not, I believe it will have a bigger impact in late September, than it would in April. (I did not think about this before seeing the film, but after I had, I got that feeling, and it makes sense - financially, too (for the studio)).
Timing is everything, they say.
