Jen, bake or grill it for 30-40 minutes and you're good to go.

I prefer to grill it, even if it's the middle of winter and pouring rain. You can marinate it in a bbq sauce or use a dry rub. It really is a delicious cut of meat and a staple at any of our family gatherings; from what I understand the tri-tip is a valley (San Joaquin Valley) creation so it's big up here where I live.
