I thought about getting one of these recently. Some of them have built-in 3G.

Then I decide, you know what? I'd rather not be beholden to the cable company (they tend to be draconian here in canada).
I found that Rogers has MiFi personal WAPs that work over 3G, and they have a month-to-month plan for them. So if I got that plus a netbook, then I'd be doing alright.
Of course, it's more expensive that way, and I don't know that I'd get any more usage out of a netbook than I get out of my wife's former laptop (a Dell Inspiron with a nearly completely dead battery).
