my boss: we heard that you were upset about xxxxxx on monday, xxxxxx says you were out of control

me: sure I was upset, we weren't doing things in a safe way, and I would disagree completely that I was out of control

my boss: see, now you're getting defensive

me: of course I am, isn't this the time of our discussion where I get to tell my side of the story and defend myself? or has everyone made up their mind that the one opinon that you heard was fact?

my boss: no, we want to hear your side, but I wish you wouldn't get defensive about it.

me: *blank stare* ...... maybe you should talk to the other people who were there and see what they say because if you accuse me of something, I'm gonna defend my reputation
