Weird kid story for today: so Jacen is speech delayed. catching up at a rapid pace, but behind where you'd expect a 3.5 yr old to be.

So it can be hard to engage him in conversations about how his day was, or explain random topics to him, because he's just not there yet. He's mostly chatty about the things he knows well (books he likes, shows he watches, toys he plays with, food he likes, etc.).
SheFox is getting him ready for school this morning and sits him on the washing machine to grab his lunch, and he goes "Today is Thursday, September 9th." We know he can read a calendar, but he's never really given any indication that he knew what day of the week it was ever (like, "tomorrow is school" or "tomorrow is the weekend" or whatever). And he was watching a DVD before school this morning, so its not like he just parroted it from TV.
So odd. Wonderful, but really weird.

Does he hear the radio in the morning, or does the local news play on the TV? That's pretty impressive. Tommy is 5, and he can't read yet. -- nm

Then he turned to you, and said it again so it would sink in with you, right? -- nm
