I call bullshit. Petraeus in no uncertain terms said it would be harmful to troops and he still said he'd go forward with it.

He wants attention, and he wants his ego fed, getting a call from the WH and then going ahead with it anyways kills two birds with one stone.
I'd like to think that I was wrong but nothing I've read about this guy gives me hope.
