6080 feet per naut. mile, right?
going from longitude to miles, feet, etc. is problematic because the distance between meridians changes depending on latitude.
can you just put the coordinates in google maps and get the distance from there?

I have 350 locations, and for each of those I have to find the closest among 120 shelters. It is going to be a spreadsheet with a formula. -- nm
