When someone gets their e-mail hacked (and sends out spam), is that because that person clicked on something they shouldn't have or did some bot guess

their password? I got a few of those spam e-mails from friends lately. So I am just wondering if I should increase the number of characters in my password.

Could be a virus, but they don't actually even need to have been hacked. It's simple to fake the From address.
