yeah, i'm pretty sure my folks haven't loved it when i've done that, but they respect that i'm an adult and can make my own decisions

again, i am lucky. :) i would hate to be put into a difficult position and be forced to make the choice to cut ties with family (or bow to their stupid demands when i'm an adult perfectly capable of making my own decisions). truly hope that doesn't have to happen to you; your family sounds... difficult... at times.
