the idea that you should essentially "dumb down" your kids so that they will fit in boggles my mind.

so what if they aren't the most popular kid in class or have trouble socializing later in life? is that really the most important goal?

that a parent would proactively limit a child's knowledge and capacity/desire for learning just so they'll fit in is some bass-ackwards thinking.

its bad enough that our overall progression is hindered by catering to the lowest common denominators, but making a conscious effort to aim for the median seems even more counter-intuitive.
