the reason i think that material is so tricky is, i think people retain ownership of whatever they push out into the world.

And that's not to limit humor, because lord knows I mine territory that not everyone is going to be enamored of. But just like I own the right to say and joke how I want, I own the reactions and responses they create as well. And I can push back some and test the objection's validity, but generally the intention is to bring smiles, not hurt, so I've got to keep an eye on that side of it too.
This isn't directed at you or anything, just joining in on ruminating on the topic.
