Some of you remember my contractor dilemma from a couple weeks ago, yes? Here is the latest e-mail I just sent him.

Herman,
Let me try to break this down for you in a manner which you can understand, since you don't seem to be getting it.
The original quote was $1000 for items A, B, C, and D.
Items A, B, and C were completed by your contractors. Item D I did myself.
Items E and F were completed but I never authorized them. Therefore I am not responsible for paying for items E and F. Since you authorized Jake to complete these extra items, you are responsible for paying that amount yourself to your subcontractor.
The amount I am willing to pay is $550. I already paid $426.
The bill needs to show the amount already paid of $426, and the amount owing of $550 for a total of $976. It also needs to state that this is the final bill I will receive from you in this matter. Otherwise I am not paying it.
I'll just be clear here. I'm not paying any more than that. If you keep sending me bills for a larger amount I will ignore them. I'm done negotiating. If you don't like it, take me to court.
Mike
