Because honestly, it's not just a "Gotta Defend Canada" thing here. The risk of "monarchy interferrance" within the Canadian system is practically) 0.00001%.

The Prime Minister basically calls the GG's shot.

(If you wanted to argue that the Prime Minister has too much power, I'd be right in there with you.)
