That's definitely a factor. There's also a bit of laziness involved, I think.

Do I want to see the senate become an elected office? No, not really.
Do I want us to have fixed term limits for MPs? If it means we can no longer have no confidence votes, absolutely not, but I am not entirely opposed to a set schedule for non-no-confidence dissolution.
Do I want Quebec to separate? Absolutely not, but I do wish that they would "plug in" to the rest of Canada. However, that process is a bit of a two-way street, which is currently being paved with money, but doesn't have anyone walking on it.
Do I want the office of the GG changed, and/or replaced by a president? No. But if it had to happen, it would have to happen in tandem with an elected senate ... and then we'd truly be like America Jr, and I think that would suck.
