it shows everyone that Sugar had the idol all along. Everyone on the jury underestimated Sugar and thought that she was too stupid to have found the idol despite going to Exile fifty billion times
Playing the idol the way she did demonstrates that she was smart enough to find it and that she is seriously playing the game, and maybe the jury will start to reassess their opinions of her
