I'll forward you one of the beginning running schedules that I used, if you'd like.

We both used it and it worked really well. It's more time-based than running based; run for 1:00, walk for 3:00 one week, then progress from there. Suzanne's knees hurt her as well, and it seemed to really work for her. Plus, if you feel like you can do more, you can.
