I can't decide if Bobby was wrong about this or not.

Diory Hernandez was our last bench player. He missed most of the season after shoulder surgery and also has knee tendinitis. He's only on the postseason roster because we didn't have enough infield depth in the minors to overcome the injuries we faced. Bobby's options were to put in Hernandez, a SS by trade who isn't 100% healthy, as a defensive sub at 2B and risk that if the unproven closer gives up a run, we're out of pinch hitters or to leave Conrad out there.
I know that some folks are making this as a black and white situation but even knowing what I do now, I'm not sure he was wrong. Conrad's view on the last play was blocked by the umpire. Hernandez probably would have suffered the same fate and we'd be asking why Bobby brought in the injured guy who had barely played in 2010. He just didn't have any good options.
Chipper and Prado are the starters and Infante isn't good at 3B. We auditioned him there and decided Prado would be better there than Infante. When Prado got hurt, we gave Conrad the shot at 3B and he bombed out. Then, we stuck him at 2B and he obviously has no idea what he's doing there since it's not a place he's played much. Now, we're back to putting Infante where he's comfortable at 2B and hoping that Glaus' instincts, training and a month of rest compensate enough for really, really bad knees.
We're down to the backups of the backups at 2B, 3B, setup man and closer. This is unfortunately what it looks like when it goes wrong.
