The fact that he was the last hitter on the bench and that we had a rookie closer in his first truly clutch situation gives me pause. I'm inclined to think Hernandez should have been brought in, but I see both sides of the thought process.
I do know that Hernandez made the roster for his bat. The choices were JC Boscan and him with Boscan having no career MLB at bats at 30. Bobby prefers a third catcher in the playoffs due to something he saw happen when he was a Yankees player in the 1950s (seriously), but he's always liked Diory's bat.
More than anything, the one area where I believe Bobby messed up -- and you know how rarely I criticize him -- is that he should have left Kimbrel to win it or lose it. I fully expected Huff to get on base against Dunn, whose control is spotty. It was again a bad situation since Kimbrel was too juiced up and was overthrowing. He hit 99 twice. I'd never seen him do that before.
