Exactly. The hyper-politicized environment of the present day makes it impossible for me to talk about anything even remotely "political."

Any opinions I express, no matter how innocuous or how strongly I emphasize that they are my own (and not the Senator's), will undoubtedly be dug up and used against my boss at some point. So, I just confine my public discussions to things that can't be hyper-politicized ... unless you count college football, and there I go out on a limb.

But it's a sacrifice I'm willing to make in order to keep my job.
