See, it treads a fine line (to me). Stop using it in mainstream media, it (most likely) stops getting used in mainstream society.

It doesn't go away, but it also doesn't "condone" it, either.
(I think most people have gotten away from using "fag" in the same manner - but I still hear people use it, and it is uncomfortable when I do.)
