a) unless this person is supposed to have input, your wife was the one who stepped up and wrote it from scratch, and not bothering to write it and then tearing someone else's work apart is pretty rude unless that's your job. so i'm with her on that point.
b) she should probably go in with an attitude of incorporating a couple of their better suggestions, because nothing is perfect first pass, and letting a couple things in will ease the tension.
c) the karma point is sort of besides the point, imo. stick to the go-forward advice.
