my cousins arranged a 40th anniversary party for the parents, my aunt and uncle for saturday night.
when they had sent out the invitations (it was a surprise party), one of their mom's oldest friends, who had been a bridesmaid told them that when her father had died a few years ago, she was sure she'd seen some old 16mm film cannisters that said "Doug and Sandra's Wedding" on them. Her father had been Mr. Tech of 1970 and had just bought his new fancy *colour* film camera and was just filming everything to test it out.
She dug them out (there were two reels), and they were in perfect shape. No-one had *EVER* seen them - my aunt and uncle didn't even know they existed.
So, they had them all transferred to a hard drive and we got to watch all the outside the church stuff and the reception.
I got to see my grandmother, who passed away in 1991 chasing her son the groom with confetti, I got to see my grandfather who died when i was 17 hugging his son, I got to see my Uncle Bill who died in 2001 laughing and drinking at the reception and I got to see my mom and dad, looking young and hip, dancing together.
there was lots of crying by everyone.
