different.

i've worked for several places where the company would never foot the bill (it was policy), but fellow coworkers did all the time. i thought it was usually a very nice gesture and made it very slightly nicer to work there.

if the policy is "employees can't take up a collection yada yada" then I'm totally with ya.

also: your posts remind me sooo much of my last place of employment. i miss it.
