So my ipod touch can't connect to the internet. It seems to connect fine to my home network but when you try to visit a website you get

"could not open the page because the server stopped responding."
I am trying to visit google.com
Wifi network is working fine, laptop has internet access.
It is brand new and I have no other network to test it on.
In the top left corner it says "ipod" and has the wifi symbol there, so I am assuming it is connected. In settings it lists my routers IP and what not.
Apple blows. Isn't it all suppose to be user friendly and working right away?
