more detail: Hale has a lot more managing experience in the minors. Farrell directed player development and then pitching coach.

I like them both; I'm not sure I consider either of them as slam dunk managerial candidates in the majors either, though.
Responses:
Most pitching coaches aren't good managers iirc.
