It's not a big deal.In fact, if you made a premium pmt *after* your new insurance went into effect you can probably get it back if you ask. :Do NOT

cancel COBRA before your new insurance takes effect no matter how tempting. Like if it's supposed to start on Nov. 1, suck it up and pay your October premium. You don't want to be in a position where you have even a small lapse in coverage.
