we used the cox dvr while we still had digital cable, but when we dropped down to limited basic, the dvr had to go too, so we picked up the Tivo.

I like the Tivo better than the Cox box, but not insanely more. The bigger deal is the almost $1,000/yr we saved by dropping our cable service to the lowest tier.
