Yes and yes. I was impressed with how faithful the show is to the book, and those are the most realistic zombies I've seen.

Great acting by Morgan (though I guess when you *notice* the acting, that's kind of a negative, but...)
And I did think toward the end of the pilot "man, it only gets darker from here".
