they will do a flashback ep that shows what happened outside his hospital room/world at large while he lay there.

I would like to know if his wife and friend tried to rescue him or did conditions warrant that they leave him for dead (hey! pun intended).

The friend and his wife had to have something going on prior to the Z apocalypse, right?
