I think the friend told her was dead when he wasn't just to get her to go
I kind of wonder if they did or did not - that whole " feelings" convo between the cops - was a bit uncomfortable. Very Hallmark Moment ( hello sam/dean)
but yeah maybe they were together before - or maybe she hitched herself to someone who could provide in post apocoloyptic america?
