I know it is hard, I have done both.

All I am saying is that it is very different. You can be in great shape on one, then get on the other one, and you're not in great shape. Many people are shocked at the difference when they switch from one to the other.

Personally, I cannot stand the feel of the stationary bike, so it is not for me. I find it way too boring and I just don't like the feel. If it works for you, then it's the way to go.

i got in the best shape of my life on a regular bike when I was doing 10-15 mile rides around super hilly Ithaca.
