Kim has tiny little girl fingers, so the smaller DS is better for her. I have gigantic meat hooks for fingers because, let's be honest, I have the same basic shape as a monster. I would think your daughter would like the smaller DS, but I think it's something you want to find out for sure. Take her to Best Buy or Target and then watch where her eyes go.

As for the Mario game, I beat it a couple of weeks ago. It's the same Mario you remember with a few added touches here or there. It's as safe a software purchase as you can make for the system.
