In response to "there was significant opposition in the Vancouver area because of their proximity to Portland" by Guy

this is one of two main reasons i oppose building a 3rd bridge between Portland & Vancouver

its only going to encourage more and more people to work in Oregon and live in Vancouver, further adding to the already out of control suburban sprawl that is Vancouver (and now outlying areas) and also to the increasingly disjointed lifestyles and perspectives in Portland.

right now the commuting nightmare between the two states is the only thing keeping this from exploding.

but also because a 3rd bridge discourages carpooling and public transportation.
