Our society sub-leases a building from the foundation that leases it from a local school district. The district facilities manager has asked for a key. The master lessee has told him to deal with us directly. Our lease does not name the owner of the building, and has the standard clause to allow the landlord access with advanced notice.
We have told the district we're willing to meet them and escort them into the building at any time convenient to them, but due to the sensitive nature of our collections we cannot release a key. They have not stated why they need access.
They are demanding - via email - that we provide a key by next Tuesday.
Can we win?
