Actually, the more I think about it, the more I think this is the simpliest test of whether he's in a selection group of "ego" pols.

He ran for President. The vast majority of politicians know they should not.
Hence, if you - Democrat, Republican or Independent - run for President, you are automatically putting yourself into a special group of pols who think highly of yourself.
(The Independent most of all.)
