I was wrong. I can't eat 2 giant pancakes.

But then neither could my friend, the old guy at the table next to us, the couple 2 tables over (sharing one order), nor the 2 guys behind them.

I opted for one buckwheat and one cornmeal. My friend had buttermilk. The buckwheat was lighter than I expected. But the cornmeal made up for that. The buttermilk were light and fluffy. All were delicious.

My friend opted to prep his plate before digging in. He buttered both pancakes and applied double syrup. He was confident he would be getting a free 3rd pancake. (That's the challenge at this place. If you finish a regular order alone, you get a 3rd one free.) I only prepped half before digging in. They offered us take-away containers but we weren't going to be home for a few hours so we declined.

We headed over to Dayton to get our favorite bread from a baker at the 2nd St Market. They have this great levain with sesame seeds that we can't get anywhere else around here. They didn't have it today. We opted to try their italian sourdough today.

Then we stopped at the Christmas Tree Shop on the way home. Seems Dayton has taken to this store. It was mobbed - and without any special sale going on.

I'm home and not feeling hungry 6 hours after not completing the pancake challenge.
