This seems a lot better than the old "take off your shoes" stuff.

When you're seeing through their clothes or patting them down everywhere it seems like it would be awfully difficult to get something through on your person. Now the old patdowns were theater, if nothing else they're at least more thorough now. If anything it seems to me like they're taking the "security theater" criticism to heart, if maybe a little to the extreme.
