i have a cat that is 18 yrs old and has been fighting kidney disease for about 2 yrs or so ... granted, she's not 3/4 kidney failure, but she has responded very well on a prescription of Benazopryl (sp?) ... has the Vet said anything to that affect?
granted "kidney disease" and "kidney failure" might technically be some various amount of different in teh Vet's better knowledge than mine ... but maybe your cat would respond well to the meds? or at least make it a little easier for her? i don't know... just a thought ...
