John's girl is from the future and brought back by the Asian chick. At one point the asian says to her: "Go do your job, keep John away from *her*"
I'm guessing that she meant Summer and that in the future John and Summer are hooked up so that John doesn't have to fear/distrust a human relationship but still gets his kicks. I think Summer figured that out at one point (the scene with the two of them talking in the bed)
