two weeks ago, I did a strategic interviewing seminar conducted by regional HR. here is a story she told us.
a senior senior manager at home office was interviewing for a high level position. our corporate recruiter (who totally has locust valley lockjaw; I'll give you her number to ring if you want) made arrangements for this person to come in and the manager had spoken to the candidate on the phone to come in for a panel interview. so the designated person brings the candidate to the plato room for the interview and the higher up is in there and stands up to greet the candidate and says, "wow, I had no idea you were black."
it's a huge joke now for the people who were in the seminar; I keep on telling tiffany that I had no idea she was a woman or todd that I had no idea he was so tall (dude is like 6'3"). but my god. how can that just come out of your mouth?
