I'm not even talking about abortion, which I oppose.
I'm talking about the condition, the atmosphere, that rewards the crassest, most offensive among us, simply for their crassness and offensiveness. The culture that says it's not enough to live a good life in relative obscurity, but rewards the most vile behavior with attention, money, notoriety, whatever.
The story itself questioned whether this was just their attempt for their fifteen minutes of fame. Perhaps if we (not ST we, because i think we're extraordinary in our collective responses to these type events), as a society would give them 15 minutes of shame, and ignore them, and not reward them in any way, we'd be much better off.
