So ... based on arguments I have made in the past, I would say that taxation is the new prohibition. Sound accurate?

Specifically, I have made the argument that it would be beneficial to legalize marijuana, and then tax it as heavily as (or more heavily than) cigarettes.
Now, of course, the marijuana subject is not what I want to have a discussion about at the moment, it's just a demonstration of the subject - is taxation the new prohibition?
