I guess I "get" why people would want to do those things - they last. But to eat something so hot it's painful?

you can't taste it, I'm sure. And it's probably twice as bad coming out.

Piercings and tattoos are artistic and will last for years for a little pain.

Eat something that's painful? I don't get it.
