I'm still not clear on the entire strategy to get Benry and Dan to vote Fabio, then vote off Benry. Maybe it was an attempt to make Fabio feel isolated, and show that he can't trust anyone, hoping to demoralize him. The problem is, I can see this giving Fabio extra motivation/determination/desperation/whatever to go on an immunity run. It could also get him thinking about any possible alliance he can make instead of sticking with the alliance he has had for a while. That has some potential to help get any of them booted.
