I played that game all the time as a kid -- it was fun. But that's not just a "regular cross," it's the Iron Cross.


It's the symbol for German armed forces since at least the first World War (and perhaps longer), and it originally served as the emblem of the Teutonic knights back in the 12th through 15th centuries (IIRC).
