I think he is making the mistake of believing that if she shows up in his dreams, it is a sign or indication of a deep connection.

I dunno, just speculating. I have various exes pop up in my dreams sometimes. as long as I don't get caught up in thinking it means I need to contact them, it's no big thing. just memories.
