With that, the company that uploaded 1984 to sell through Amazon didn't have the rights to do so. Amazon ended up in a lawsuit

with the rights holder. The rights holder was pissed, and rightly so.
Eventually, those who had purchased the bogus 1984 had their copies return with any notes they'd made, as well.
