oh, i don't think that's at all true. they have been profitable games wise on a global basis, even though they certainly have bled market share...

which certainly is bad, i will freely admit. going from 1st to 3rd is really weak. but overall, they're making money on the device.
me, i can't even imagine what another round of consoles will be like anymore. maybe it's because i'll never buy another, but i already feel like we're past the point where most of the companies would have started rumormongering about the next ones.
