I've had that happen as well. Mine's SonyEricsson. It was like that long time ago, but then became fine again.

I've had no trouble with it this calendar year, until just now - I got a text from my Italiana, read it, then accessed the inbox again few minutes later, and it was gone. In its place was one MMS from a guy I know, sent this summer, and after that, an sms from a buddy sent Xmas two years ago. And behind those two, the previous messages from Italiana. I erased the Xmas 2 years ago text, and with that I wouldn't be surprised if the phone also erased the fresh message (from Italiana). So it's back to that again - for the first time in a long time.
